10/08/00- "Headmint"
is almost ready for release, there are a few problems which are being
sorted out now (apparently f&j were not happy with the art work the
studio had come up with!!).
Fleming & John recently went to new york whilst ben folds five were
appearing on the letterman show. whilst there fleming had a bit of a family
reunion! they have now returned to nashville and ben folds stayed with
them for a few days! (maybe he was adding a contribution to the new album.........?)
11/06/00- fleming and john have finished
recording the "Headmint" album and it will be available for
the offical websites store iun the next few weeks. (and rumour has it
fleming has had her hair cut!)
16/03/00- fleming and john are off of universal
records. here is what john said:
"fleming and john are officially off of universal records"! here's the
story: universal picked up our option (asking us to do another album)
in november. the question we were forced to ask was "why?" when we a barely
scratched the surface on twwa... so after a brief moment of tension they
kindly agreed to let us go. we still have good friends and true fans there,
problem is they aren't in charge! so don't beat up on marc nathan if you
bump into him on the web (he is the one that brought us to universal)!
we are working on new stuff now, and we are negotiating a new deal (let
the speculation begin!). anyway we hope to find a new home that will be
more interested in marketing us to the apparently cool people that like
our music (yes, we're kissing up!) instead of just going straight to top
40 radio (‘ugly girl’ was #19 on the hot ac chart with a bullet when they
quit promoting it...oh well). universal did give us more of a chance than
they give to most of their acts, and for that we are thankful. they generally
drop bands after the first unsuccessful single. but we move on... more
news to come as soon as possible.“ jmp
06/02/00-we asked fleming and john what
they were doing at the moment, john said “we are at home working on some
new music.”
14/01/00- ugly girl gets to no.20 in the
phillipines
14/12/99- fleming and john join ben folds
five in england as special guests on the last half of their tour. whilst
in england they took the opportunity to take in the sites of london
10/09/99-fleming and john were on the conan
o’brien show performing "ugly girl"
